Congratulations – you're a veterinarian! (Now, get to work!)

Now that the hard part is over (veterinary school), the harder part begins (working as a veterinarian)!

Doctors in human medicine have the opportunity to find their feet within residency positions. But new veterinarians don’t have that luxury. Instead, you have to jump straight into the deep end, working with real, paying clients right after veterinary school or an internship.

You know your stuff. You know that the scientific and medical facts are at your fingertips. But veterinary school didn’t prepare you for everything you need to know as a new veterinarian.

many new veterinarians struggle with:

Feeling confident with clients, despite feeling confident in the science
Wanting to be a productive member of the practice, but struggling to manage time effectively
Being unsure of how to add value to the business, and how to fit into the team and culture of the practice
Dealing with the emotional roller coaster of back-to-back client consults, with a euthanasia one minute and puppy vaccines the next
Feeling overwhelmed by the all-consuming nature of the career, and unable to budget time in the day for self-care
Being unsure about how to pay off seemingly debilitating student loan debt

The four reasons why you’ve struggled until now
(hint, it’s not your fault)

Overwhelmed? You aren't alone! Most new veterinarians don't understand:
01

What got you here, won’t get you there.

You passed your exams and graduated, and you’re good at the clinical side of your job. But those skills aren’t enough. Practice owners want veterinarians who are confident in communicating with clients.
02

The common goal is bigger than you.

Your job is about much more than providing excellent patient care—it’s also about playing your part to help the practice reach its financial goals.
03

Self-care is always at the bottom of the list because there’s never enough time in the day.

Without taking time for self-care, you risk burning out and not being happy in the profession you’ve worked so hard to be part of.
04

Mentorship for new grad vets is not prioritized.

Most veterinary practices are too busy to provide effective mentorship to new veterinarians. This leaves you feeling like you’re pestering your busy colleagues for answers, or trying to fill in the blanks alone, rather than being a positive contributor to your practice.

Hi!

I’m Dani Rabwin

founder and CEO of Ready, Vet, Go, the first veterinary mentorship program of its kind.

I’ve been in your shoes, and I understand how you’re feeling.

Since graduating from veterinary school nearly 20 years ago, I’ve worked at a number of general practice hospitals. During that time, I’ve seen many great veterinarians burn out and quit the profession because they didn’t start off on the best foot and had nowhere to turn for the right support.

As I gained experience, I felt called to informally mentor veterinary and veterinary technician students, as well as new career veterinarians. That informal mentorship became more formal when my current practice owner was reluctant about hiring a new grad because of the time and cost involved, and I persuaded him to allow me to personally onboard and mentor her.

My mentee and I enjoyed great success, and she was able to shortcut all the messy, stressful parts of starting a veterinary career. Everything she learned put her on the fast track to becoming a confident and valued member of the team.

That's when I realized just how vital it is for new vets to have this level of support.

After helping many new veterinarians begin rewarding, long-lasting careers, I knew I had to take my mentorship program to a wider audience. And now, everything I know is available to you, so you can start your veterinary career the RIGHT way

Here’s What People Are Saying About Working With Dani:

Dr. Rabwin has worked for me for over 8 years. She has been in charge of helping to train all new veterinary hires. She has a very cheerful attitude and has helped me with the transition from new grad to competent associates. Dani not only helps with the medical aspects of the cases but perhaps more importantly, the communication with the client and the staff. She diligently goes over the estimates to be sure charges are not missed, and I have watched the average client charge go up the more she works the associate. She has endless patience and is always "the go to vet" when new hires have any questions. Because the other associates often find new grads' needs are time consuming, having a "point mentor" keeps everyone happy and brings the new associate up to speed quickly.
Dr. Gutlaizer, Practice Owner
Dr. Rabwin’s mentorship of our new grad associate has been invaluable for our practice. From an administrative perspective, having Dr. Rabwin mentor our new grad allowed our new employee to be mentored, have her questions answered, and get up to speed quickly. In fact, with Dr. Rabwin’s mentorship, our new graduate associate surpassed our expectations for production within the first year. Dr. Rabwin is a wonderful communicator and veterinarian. She brings positive energy to the practice and this helps not only our new graduate associates, as they face the day-to-day learning curve of private practice, but it flows through the entire staff. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Rabwin and Ready, Vet, Go.
Elizabeth DeMarinis, Hospital Administrator
Dr. Dani is so much fun to work with. She brings thought-provoking questions and practical real-world experience to our monthly rounds that helps break down difficult cases into their basic components. Through our sessions, I have grown so much as a doctor and gained confidence in my ability to work up cases. Her support has really helped me grow as a medical professional.
Galen Groff, DVM
Dr. Rabwin is an amazing support. She is encouraging, easy to talk to, and offers practical guidance from her years of general practice experience. After being an equine practitioner for 11 years, I transitioned into small animal practice. I felt overwhelmed and scared at all the things I didn’t know. Dr. Rabwin was always there for me, whether it was to talk to me after a trying case, to coach me through a conversation with a client, to reassure me about my decisions or to offer medical advice. My learning and confidence grew exponentially after starting our rounds group, which was led and orchestrated by Dr. Rabwin. I became more comfortable with diagnostic and treatment approaches for tricky endocrine cases and had a group of supportive colleagues that I could call or text when I needed quick advice on how to handle a case. I realized after attending a conference that I had learned so much more than I ever realized during the case rounds, and a lot of the conference material was familiar from what was discussed in rounds. I feel so lucky to have Dr. Rabwin as a friend and mentor. The confidence she gave me was invaluable.
Natasha Lefkowitz, DVM
I went straight from school into a larger small animal practice. I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Rabwin as my mentor. Between the caseload, the new time schedule, client questions and communication, I was overwhelmed. Dr. Rabwin coached me through the process. She also helped sift through important and unimportant blood values and lab work. She helped me with next steps for diagnosis and how to communicate to owners about grey-zones and additional testing. Vet school does a great job and gets you to understand the big things, those obvious cases of hyperthyroidism or the complications of leaving masses unchecked for years. There was still a lot to learn. Dr. Rabwin was that help I needed! She also helped me with my surgical skills and taught me completely new procedures that we only read about. She helped bolster my confidence. I am a better doctor today because of her.
